How does Folvar verify an FSC certificate claim?
A certificate claim is useful only when the holder, code, scope, validity and public permission all refer to the right entity.
- A public certificate record must identify the certificate holder, code, scope, validity date and disclosure permission.
- A certificate record does not automatically prove that every product, component or customer project is covered.
A certificate belongs to a defined holder and scope
A responsible public record should name the legal entity shown on the certificate, reproduce the certificate code accurately, state the certified scope and show the current validity period. Trading, manufacturing and product claims must not be treated as interchangeable when they refer to different entities or activities.
Fields required before publication
- Certificate holder and the relationship to Folvar or the manufacturing partner.
- Certificate code, certified scope and issuing or verification source.
- Valid-from, valid-until and the date Folvar last checked the record.
- Permission to publish the file, link or relevant excerpt.
- A clear limit explaining what the certificate does not prove about an individual product or project.
Project claims need one more qualification step
When a buyer needs a claim for a specific paper can, the material route, supplier record, purchasing scope and requested market language must be checked against that project. Folvar will distinguish the public certificate record from a project-specific evidence package.
